COVIDSAFE DOWNLOADS REACH 5 MILLION AS EXPERTS QUESTION TECHNICAL FLAWS

Leading cyber security expert Professor Richard Buckland said the app's rollout had been rushed and unsafe.

"The app itself has numerous usability and technical flaws," he said. "It looks like it was rushed out. They're sort of running it more like a marketing campaign."

Professor Buckland pointed to the fact iPhone users need to have the app open and their phone unlocked for the app to work reliably, and called for the COVIDSafe source code to be released as promised.
